The Lupin Story
Lupin Ltd. was founded in 1968 by Dr. Desh Bandhu Gupta who had a compelling mission to fight life-threatening, infectious diseases to create a better world for people. This mission steered the organization through the years to become one of the fastest-growing generic pharmaceutical companies around the world.
The company’s name “Lupin” was inspired by the characteristics of the Lupin flower, which is known to nourish and be tolerant of the often infertile soil it grows in. This inspiration, which is further underscored by the flower’s capability to pioneer changed in barren and poor climates, is woven through the company’s DNA as it continuously strives to develop medical solutions to meet the unmet needs of the society, globally.

Lupin Neurosciences is a Specialty Pharma Division of Lupin. We are committed to improving the lives of patients affected by underserved neurological disorders. Our mission is to expand patient access to science-based therapies and solutions through building a global portfolio of speciality pharmaceuticals for development, registration and commercialisation with partners and collaborators.
Lupin Neurosciences is headquartered in Zug, Switzerland due to its favourable business environment and strong pool of candidates with the specialty pharma expertise needed to support the division’s current and future activities. The division’s initial focus is to identify treatment solutions within the neuromuscular and movement disorder areas, and aims to broaden, over time, its focus to other therapy areas within the neuroscience field.
